Lust List

Henri Bendel bag | Lauren James shorts | Alex and Ani bangle
KJP for Brooks Brothers | Jack Rogers Sandals

Recently, there have been a few things that I have been wanting and lusting over! First things first this Henri Bendel convertible backpack. Since this style was released I have been dreaming of it. I love how you can change it back and forth from a cross body or shoulder bag to a backpack. This was recently on sale at their private sale online and I hope my mom picked it up for me for my birthday! It was even in the color I grew to love (a light blush hue).

Next thing I have been loving is cute running shorts. Between Krass and Co and Lauren James how could you not love these! I recently picked up a pair of Krass and Co Sarahbelle93x exclusive shorts. If you use the THIS LINK you can get a discount with your oder!

Bracelets are always a favorite of mine. This leather wrapped Alex and Ani is for sure on my birthday list. I love the blush color and I think it would go great with a lot of the pieces I wear. Also, I am loving this pearl KJP bracelet exclusively for Brooks Brothers. My Audrey Hepburn pearl bracelet is a personal favorite of mine.

Lastly, I cannot wait to bust out my Jack Rogers gold sandals. Hopefully I can find a good deal on another pair this summer. Last summer I lived in mine so I would love to add another pair to my collection.

What is on your lust list? Let me know in the comments!

College Series: Study Break Tips

Finding the best time to take a study break can be challenging. Since midterms are right around the corner (or currently happening) I thought I would give a few fast tips that you can incorporate into your study routine!

  1. Watch a Youtube video: Whenever I need a quick break I pull up Youtube and watch a few videos in my subscription. This way you can have a 10-15 minute break without the commitment of watching an whole episode of a show which could be 30-60 minutes long!
  2. Eat a snack: Usually when I'm studying I get super hungry! Take a few minutes and pop a bag of popcorn, run and go through a drive through, or make a healthy snack (if thats your thing). Once I eat a little something I am more likely to study! No one likes to study on an empty stomach.
  3. Read a chapter: Currently I am trying to start the book Dirty Rush that I was sent through my Grandex rep program! To take a quick study break read a chapter in a book you are working on or that you want to read. Reading a chapter can take about 20 min so this is a great if you need to get your mind off a hard class and escape for a bit.
Those are a few quick study break tips of mine! What are your favorite study breaks? Let me know in the comments!

OOTD: Cozy Sweater

Here is a little OOTD throwback! I wore this look before there was snow on the ground and before it was 2 degrees out. Although, this is a great look to wear when the weather gets chilly.

For this look I wore this oversized sweater from American Eagle. I love the textures on this sweater that are combined with the stripe pattern. You can't go wrong with a bold black and white look. But, to add a little color I wore these utilitarian inspired skinny pants from J Crew.

To accessorize I wore my go-to Baublebar earrings. I always find myself reaching for them! I think they are great because they have simple black, grey, and white stones. This makes them match practically anything! Then I also layered a few of my favorite dainty necklaces. One is a M initial pendent from Kate Spade and the other is a twitter handle necklace from Marley Lilly. For my bracelets I wore my favorite Alex and Ani bangles plus my KJP bow bracelet. To complete the look I wore camel colored booties.

Where it's from:
Sweater: American Eagle
Pants: J Crew
Shoes: Target
Necklaces: Marley Lilly and Kate Spade
Bracelets: Alex and Ani & KJP
Earrings: Baublebar

OOTD: Embellished Oxford

For this outfit of the day I was a little more dressed up then normal. To create this preppy look I first wore this gorgeous embellished oxford. Originally around $90 at J Crew I got it on sale for around $25 on clearance! It was such a great deal that I could not pass up. The shirt has a fabulous sequin detail down the side which gives the shirt a glam touch. I paired the shirt with a simple navy skirt. To keep my legs warm on the chilly day I wore thick sweater tights.

To accessorize the look I wore a gorgeous multi-colored statement necklace. I also scored this necklace for under $20 at J Crew! My number one shopping tip is to take advantage of the sale section at J Crew. Most often times they have an extra 40%-50% the sale section. In addition, to my necklace I also wore subtle iridescent statement earrings.

To complete the look I wore Daniel Wellington watch and a Henri Bendel bracelet. For a change in my watch, I switched out my leather strap for my navy and red nano strap. I love Daniel Wellington watches because it gives you the option of changing your strap to make it a completely new watch!

Where it's from:
Shirt: J Crew
Skirt: J Crew (Crew Cuts)
Boots: Madewell
Tights: Nordstrom
Earrings: J Crew
Necklace: J Crew
Watch: Daniel Wellington
Bracelet: Henri Bendel

I'm currently LOVING this oxford! The sequin and ribbon detail makes the shirt a little more special then your average oxford.

Top 5 Valentine's Day Pinterest DIYs

Valentine's day is a great excuse to do DIY projects. Whether you are hosting a girls night in, creating a gift for your Valentine, or you just want a snack these are my top Valentine's Day DIYs that you must try out!

Food | You can't go wrong with a great Valentine's day treat. Here are two options that are super easy! The first one is to create Oreo sprinkle pops. I suggest covering your Oreos in chocolate then dipping them into your choice of sprinkles. These will make a great little treat to give to friends or to enjoy yourself! Also, strawberries are a great option for Valentine's day. Follow the steps in the picture to create adorable heart strawberry treats!

Gifts | These are two great simple gifts to give your Valentine. Create a coupon customized to your sweetheart. Include things like taking them to dinner at their favorite restaurant or having a movie night in. Another great and easy gift to make is a no-sew pillow. I used to make these all the time for gifts! This heart shaped one is adorable. This would make a great gift for a friend or your Valentine.

Decor | This Banner DIY is beyond adorable! Creating a burlap and painted banner is a perfect way to spice up your house, dorm room, or apartment. To make the banner more subtle use colors other then red or pink.

What are your favorite DIY projects? Leave links in the comments I would love to see them!

College Series: How to start of the semester right

Starting off on the right foot....
Second semester is now in full swing. Now going on my third week of classes everything is starting to hit me. Between quizzes, homework, club meetings, and a lot of other things! Sometimes starting off a new semester can be tricky. Personally, coming back the first week I was not motivated whatsoever to do anything. I was for sure still in winter break mode. But, now that I have adjusted to school life again, I have a few tips on how to start off your semester on the right foot.
  1. Don't procrastinate! I am either an early bird when it comes to assignments or I procrastinate big time. There seems to be no in-between. However, if you start getting in the habit of getting assignments and homework done as early as possible you will be sure for success. If you have quizzes that are due the following week try and get them done on Thursday or even Friday before your weekend plans. There is nothing worse then doing homework on Sunday afternoon.
  2. Stay positive. This is hard for me sometimes. Sometimes certain things or instances put me in a bad mood. But, don't get stuck in a funk. By staying positive you can keep a happy attitude the whole semester. There is always room for a few mental breakdowns (we all have them) but try and perk up and think of the positives versus the negatives.
  3. Use your planner. My planner is my life. If I didn't write down all of my assignments and meetings I would get nothing done. Utilizing an online calendar, paper planner, or sticky notes on your computer's desktop are great ways to stay organized. If you have a Mac I HIGHLY suggest using the sticky notes. I use these to type of my assignments, meetings, and schedule. This way I can take a quick glance and know exactly what I need to get done.

Travel Diary: Travel Day and Disney Day 1

Travel Day: Flying and arriving to the hotel
Early Friday morning we started our day by heading to the airport. Luckily our flight was on time and we arrived in Orlando right on schedule. For the first day we just wandered around. First we checked into our hotel which is Disney's Boardwalk Villas. Then we continued to explore the Contemporary resort (we have stayed there in the past), Port Orleans resort, as well as Downtown Disney.

Downtown Disney was a mad house! So we didn't end up staying long. But, they had a super cool store called the Marketplace Co-op. The store included a wide variety of little pop-up like shops. I thought it was very well merchandised (the fashion major in me talking) and super cute!

Left: A picture of our hotel's lobby
Right: View from the plane

Disney Day 1: Magic Kingdom
For our first day at the parks we went to Magic Kingdom which is for sure a favorite of mine. Here is a list of my top favorite things to do:
-Rides: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, Tea Cups, Buzz Lightyear, and the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor
-Food: Dole pineapple frozen treats, popcorn, Be Our Guest restaurant, and Gaston restaurant for cinnamon rolls

My lovely outfit includes my bid day tank, running shorts from Target, Lilly Pulitzer sunglass strap, and Ked sneakers. Unfortunately my tank is super long so you couldn't see my shorts. But, it was a hot day so it ended up working out!

Our first stop in the morning was a character breakfast at the Crystal Palace. I dined on puffed French toast, an egg and cheese omelet, fruit, and bacon. It was all quite yummy! Before breakfast we got into the park early which is when we took pictures in front of the castle without anyone in the background.

Here are a few shots of the lovely food that I ate later in the day. I snacked on a Mickey Mouse pretzel (always tasty) and we ate at Be Our Guest restaurant for lunch. Be Our Guest is based on Beauty and the Beast and it is so cool inside! For lunch I ate a roast beast (get it?) sandwich, french fries, and a triple chocolate cupcake.

The castle all lit up! All the Christmas decorations were still up which were so fun to see. You can't beat Disney at Christmas time.

Be on the lookout for more "Travel Diary" posts on my trip to Disney!

Guy Gift Guide

button down shirt | flask | boat shoes | aviators
pull over | sports team beanie | cool sneakers
funny socks | printed bow tie | belt

From dads, brothers, best guy friends, to boy friends everyone has a guy to shop for this holiday season. Here are a few gifts that I think a guy would enjoy! Also, one of the best gifts to give a guy is a gift from Rowdy Gentleman! I am currently a campus rep for Grandex which runs Rowdy Gentleman. So, to get a discount off your Rowdy Gentleman order be sure to use the code MPollitt!

Here are my top picks from Rowdy Gentleman.....

Everyone loves a patriotic tee! These are a few of my favorites from Rowdy Gentleman.

Rowdy Gentleman has great new fleece items! I recently purchased a fleece jacket for my brother for Christmas. They have black, olive green, red, and blue so there is a color for any guy on your list.

Koozies are a great gift to give any guy! They are perfect for keeping any drink cold. Plus they can have great witty sayings like this Rowdy Gentleman koozie!

Boho Chic Gift Guide

glam romper | Capri Blue candle | velvet skirt | floppy hat
ankle booties | long chain necklace | lacey bra top | dark lipstick
cool phone case | ring holder | stud earrings | lace socks
mix and match earring kit | textured skirt

Everyone has that one friend who can rock anything and everything hippie and boho. My have a few friends who can rock any of the pieces above. For myself I will stick to my preppy and classic style. But, any of these gifts would be great to gift the boho babe in your life.

I have an Capri Blue candle in the Volcano scent and it is purely amazing! A lot of small boutiques and stores like Anthropologie carry these candles or candles very similar. If you are from the Ames area Portobello Road boutique has a great selection of fabulous candles. But, if you are reading from somewhere else Anthropologie has a huge variety!

If she is an accessory girl I highly suggest a long dainty necklace or a fun pack of stud earrings. Delicate pieces are a boho girls go-to. If you know she is a ring person be sure to find a cute ring holder for her to hold her collection on.

For clothing pieces fun skirts, delicate bra tops, and awesome unique pieces are the way to go. Topshop, Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie are all great places to find fabulous boho fashions.

For small stocking stuffers dark lipstick, a cool phone case, or a pair of lacey socks are great small gifts to throw in someones stocking!

What are your go-to boho pieces? Let me know in the comments!

How to style plaid scarves for winter!

It's officially December! Which means it's time to bundle up and keep out of the cold. Plaid scarves have been in a ton of my posts recently and to say the least I'm obsessed. There are a ton of ways you can style and wear a plaid scarf. Here are a few ways I've styled them recently.....

  1. Shorts, tights, and a long sleeve: For a fun holiday party look pair your scarf with tights and a cute pair of shorts!
  2. Dress, denim shirt, and tights: If your seeking a mix between casual and dressy this look is for you. Layer a denim shirt, sleeveless dress, and a plaid scarf for a fabulous layered look.
  3. Sweater, button down, jeans: This look is great for running around campus or town. It's simple but still has interest with the layering.
  4. Long sleeve and jeans: A comfortable look sometimes is a necessity. To dress down a plaid scarf pair it with a simple long sleeve and jeans. Don't be afraid to mix prints. Plaids and stripes are always a cute combo.

What is your favorite way to wear a plaid scarf? Let me know in the comments!

OOTD: Cargo Cool

For a day of classes I have been drawn to pants more and more. With the temperature dropping wearing tights and dresses is getting less appealing (which is super depressing). So, I have resorted to wearing cute utility pants like these navy pants from J Crew. I paired these cool pants with a simple striped top. Overtop I wore an army green military vest. The overall look was super cool but still my preppy style.

For accessories I wore one of my favorite pair of statement earrings. This pair is great because it has a lot of colors that I wear on a regular basis. You can never go wrong with a great statement earring! My favorite place to get statement earrings is Baublebar or J Crew. They have great options and if you keep your eye out you can usually score them on sale! Then I tied in the navy and green in my outfit with my Sperry Topsider watch.

Vest: Aerie
Shirt: J Crew
Pants: J Crew
Boots: Michael Kors
