OOTD: Nautical Lovin

Today my outfit was pretty simple. But I got to wear my new coat I recently picked up shopping over break. It is a super fun bold red nautical inspired coat from J Crew. I just picked it up from the outlet for a steal! My outfit includes my favorite J Crew tee along with a simple pair of jeans and tall brown boots. I wore bold red lips and a pair of pearl studs to complete the look.

Where it's from:
Shirt: J Crew
Jeans: American Eagle
Earrings: Charming Charlie's
Boots: My Mom's (I borrow her shoes when I'm home...)
Coat: J Crew (bought at the outlet)

Dr. Miranda: Surviving College Part 1

Tips for surviving college:
College is a super fun and exciting time. However, things can get overwhelming fast. Whether it is clubs, sorority, classes, or friendships college is always throwing you a curve ball. I may have only been in college for a little over a semester. But, I have been through a lot and also learned a lot. I am giving you my inside tips and tricks to surviving college. Not to mention I will tell you my college essentials that every college girl needs.

How to survive college part one: what you will need
There are a few things that you will need to help you survive your time through college.
  1. A vest: Every girl needs some type of vest. Whether it be a $30 one from Old Navy or a J Crew excursion vest, these come super in handy. Not only are they cute but they are great for layering. If you don't need a coat throw on a sweatshirt or sweater and layer on a vest. This will keep you warm without you dying of heat.
  2. An infinity scarf: Scarves in general will be your best friend. If you plan on going somewhere cold it is imperative that you wear scarfs! This will prevent you from being freezing while walking to classes. When I wouldn't wear a scarf I would be extra cold while going to class. So be sure to bring a lot of cute scarfs to wear around campus. Also, in general they are a great accessory.
  3. Fun sneakers: I know working out doesn't always seem appealing. You get lazy and tired and just unmotivated. However, with a fun pair of tennis shoes you may be more likely to work out (maybe results are NOT guaranteed). Having a fun pair of shoes for the gym makes working out a little more fun.
  4. Colorful felt tip pens: These pens are super great for note taking and organizing your planner. I am huge in color coding so naturally these are my best friend. You can pick a color for each subject in your planner or designate colors for vocab and other topics in your notes. In general these will save you and keep you organized!
  5. Yoga pants or leggings: I am not the biggest fan of yoga pants. However, I have found myself wearing them more and more as college goes on. I mainly wear them to the gym. If you join a sorority you will have a variety of different events like lip sync, varieties, or whatever your individual campus does. Yoga pants are great for these practices because they keep you covered and you won't trip on them! (If I wear sweatpants I will trip because I am just a shorty.)
  6. Concealer: When I get stressed I break out. So, basically that is all the time in college. Concealer will be your best friend when a random break out surprises you in the morning.
  7. Post-it notes: Post it notes are great reminders. Whether it is a to-do list or a reminder you can stick them in your planner, on your desk, or around your room. These will keep you on the ball and help you remember things. Often times I find myself forgetting little things if I don't write them down.
  8. A backpack: I know. Sometimes backpacks can be dorky. BUT I warn you now, you will probably die without a backpack. I find myself lugging not only a laptop but books and other materials on a daily basis. Without my backpack I honestly don't know how I would carry all of my things to class. Try and find a backpack that has a laptop sleeve and has a cute pattern or color.
  9. Rain boots: I repeat YOU NEED rain boots. Any rain boots are better then no rain boots trust me! My campus gets a lot of rain so my rain boots have come super in handy. Whether you get Hunters or another brand rain boots are a great investment.
  10. Planner: This may be one of the most important college essentials. A planner is your key to success. Get in the habit of writing everything and everything down. You will be surprised how busy you get and how easy it is to forget things. Having a planner will keep you on to top of everything from tests, clubs, and homework.
  11. Highlighters: Highlighters are a great essential to have. They will help you with your notes or organizing your planner. I tend to highlight basically everything so these are super important for me. They are just one more way to stay organized.

Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2014

Lilly Pulitzer's new collection is full of gorgeous new prints, classic white dresses, and fun unique pieces. It's all that we love about Lilly and more.

Here are some of my favorite pieces that are available on Lilly Pulitzer's website right now!

Left: This cropped blazer is super adorable! It kind of reminds me of a Chanel blazer except this one is obviously a fraction of the cost. The combination of the pinks, purples, and some blue in the jacket will make it easy to pair with simple pieces for spring.
Right: A navy nautical dress is a great staple for spring. You could dress this up or down and even wear it in the winter with some tights.

Left: In this collection there are a ton of beautiful white dresses! These would be great to buy and to keep for rushing if you are in a sorority. There are great silhouettes to choose from that are super flattering.
Right: I am loving this patterned floral blouse. It is super classic without being old and frumpy. I like the bold print and colors in this Lilly pattern as well. Pair this top with white or normal jeans and you have a great spring look.

XOXO

Lilly Pulitzer Holiday Wishlist

Lilly Pulitzer Holiday Wishlist:
Lilly Pulitzer is the perfect place to shop for the preppy girl on your shopping list. To be honest I don't know who wouldn't want Lilly Pulitzer under their tree but.....

For their holiday collection Lilly Pulitzer still incorporates bright and fun colors which is great for someone who is bold, fun, and silly. Also, if you know someone vacationing over winter break you could get them something fun and bright for a tropical vacation. (hint: I'm going on a cruise over winter break :) Get ready for many posts about it!)

My top Lilly Pulitzer gifts:

I am literally in love with this navy sweater! Literally, I find it so hilarious and I just want it... real bad. Then for a comfy gift think of this bright blue pull over. This would be an ideal gift for a more casual girl on your list. Then who doesn't love a classic pair of earrings that you can wear with anything? These dangles are perfect for someone with low jewelry needs. Why? Well they can wear them with practically everything and they aren't to bold.
Again, a puffy vest is essential in fact is critical in the winter months. A bright magenta color is a fun color to brighten up the winter season. Also, the ribbon detail is an extra touch to make it unique from other vests.

J Crew Holiday Wishlist

J Crew Wishlist

My top J Crew picks:
J Crew is the ultimate store for the preppy or classic girl on your list (or even boy). They have things from jewelry, accessories, to clothes of course.

Here are my top picks from J Crew's website and gift guide!

If you want a simple gift for someone go for a beanie or a cute coffee mug. I am obsessed with this chevron one they have at J Crew. It's preppy which means it's perfect. Then you can never go wrong with a fun beanie thats not only cute but it will keep you warm in the chilly winter months.

J Crew has adorable sweaters! I am boarder line obsessed with this llama one for some reason... it's just unique and fun at the same time! Then the other sweater has a cool tribal print. Also the grey sleeves is a cool detail.

A girl can never have to many accessories! When in doubt baubles are always the answer. A chunky pearl necklace or crystal studs are perfect for a any J Crew fan. Then this baseball cap is perfect for any casual day you friend or family member might have. Sparkly skinny belts can add a fun touch to a holiday outfit which makes them the perfect gift!

J Crew has some super cute cold weather gear. Their vests may be one of the cutest things ever (well in my opinion at least....) and along with these Sperry for J Crew boots it makes the perfect cold weather combo.

Lastly, a sequin skirt and fun necklace are great items to have during the holidays. So, why not gift them this season?

So be sure to check out these fabulous, preppy, and chic gift ideas for someone on your list at J Crew's website!

Preppy Diaries: Sailing in the fall?

Preppy Diaries: Sailing in the fall?

It may be fall but I still am inspired by nautical things. This simple relaxed outfit features stripes and the Vineyard Vines whale which creates a nautical feel.

Overall, the look is very casual and easy to wear. I wore a simple striped quarter length shirt, a pair of skinnies, with my trusty baseball cap.

Not to mention this look is extremely preppy, which is never a bad thing.

OOTD: Bows and Tiffany Blue

OOTD: Bows and Tiffany Blue
This look is super girly and very simple in my opinion. I wore a Tiffany blue dress paired with thick sweater tights. Sweater tights are a super easy way to wear a dress but stay warm.

Along with it I wore a grey and white bow scarf. The pattern adds a super cute touch to the otherwise simple look. Scarfs are also a great accessory to keep yourself warm. Bundle up!

My accessories include pearl studs, a stack of bangles, and black ballet flats. The flats have a bow detail on the toe which ties into the bow theme of the outfit.

Overall, with this look I wanted to be girly and simple.

A fresh coat of nail polish calls for a picture. This is Essie's Play Date!

OOTN: Formal Dinner and First Chapter

OOTN: Formal Dinner and First Chapter

The chevron obsession continues...

This was my outfit for a formal sorority dinner along with my first ever chapter meeting as a initiated member.

I wore this chevron patterned dress paired with my trusty blazer. Around my neck I wore this super chunky and oversized clear necklace. It fills up the empty space around my neck to balance out my outfit.

Adding the socks and heels add a little playfulness to the outfit. Also, it adds an extra level of chic-ness.

My accessories included Mary jane heels, a mouse watch, a clear statement necklace, and a small stack of bangles.
