OOTD: Sweatshirt Chic

Casual Chic

Since school has started I have been trying to find new ways to be comfortable yet chic! So, for this first week look I wore this fun graphic sweatshirt with a simple navy skirt. I love the idea of dressing up a super casual piece like a sweatshirt. It gives me an element of comfort but I'm still cute and put together for class. I accessorized with bright pink accessories including a bold statement earrings, casual sneakers, and a bright belt.

OOTD: Am I a hippe? Possibly....

Somethings I have these random moments when I feel like I am living in the 70's. It is sometimes (key word sometimes) to change up my normal J Crew preppy style for something different! In this instance I decided to be super hipster I guess. I paired my oversize green army inspired jacket with a fun floral dress. It was still a little chilly outside so I wore a pair of brown tights and brown boots.

For accessories I wore a contrasting floral headband across my head. My friend kept making fun of me saying that my headband looked like a t-shirt wrapped around my head. But he clearly just doesn't understand the head wrap trend that I have been seeing a lot of this spring! I also wore a fringe style necklace that I have worn many times before. Then of course no outfit is complete without my bangles and watch.

Also, in the picture I am covering my nose because I have been dying of a cold these past 12 days! So that is why I haven't been posting as much. Between 3 tests, sewing a skirt, and being sick this 2 weeks have been..... well very busy!

How to: Style Rent the Runway dresses for multiple occasions

How to: Style Rent the Runway dresses for multiple occasions

As you may know, I am a Rent the Runway On Campus rep! So, I recently rented some dresses from their website www.renttherunway.com

I took advantage of the free sizing pack. This pack includes three dresses to try on to see what your sizing is. A stylist at Rent the Runway picks out the three dresses for you.

I got the pack with all size 0 dresses because if it's a zero and doesn't fit its not going to fit! I was super happy with the first dress which was gorgeous!

The first dress they sent me was a Opening Ceremony dress. There was gorgeous embroidery details in blue, green, silver, and blush pink colors.  It was fitted in the waist then flared out. This silhouette was super flattering on my figure. The dress was cut kind of low but it would be suitable for a party of some sort (nothing wrong with a little skin).

The first way I styled the dress was how I wore it to class. I kept things super casual and added accessories to dress down the dress. Pairing the dress with a cardigan, scarf, and knee high socks made the dress more relaxed. Also, I wore a rose gold belt to accent the waist even more.

Casual Look:
Dress: Rent the Runway
Scarf: H&M
Sweater: American Eagle
Shoes: Sam Eldeman
Bracelet: BCBG
Socks: Target
Earrings: Nordstrom
Belt: Forever 21

The next way you could style this look is a "work look". Pair the dress with a simple black or brown blazer to make it more professional. Slip on a pair of boots to match your blazer along with tights or knee socks. You can keep the same accessories or change them based on how professional your job may be.

Socks: Target
Earrings: Nordstrom
Bracelet: BCBG

The final look is a party or going out look. I simply just paired the dress with a pair of Mary jane style heels. Keeping the knee socks on it makes it a little more Blair Waldorf inspired. However, you can wear a pair of tights or nothing at all (depending on your weather situation).

I did the same thing with another dress that was in the try on pack. This dress is a little more dressy then the other one. However, it doesn't mean that you can't make it a casual look.

The first look is the party or going out look. Pairing the dress with nude heels it creates a sleek and chic look. The nude in the heels mimics the color under the lace. Also, I paired the dress with a mint statement necklace. Adding a splash of color helps brighten up the look and make it more fun.

This dress has a lot of pretty details. The lace has a unique pattern and also has silver metallic woven into the fabric. A scalloped lace hem adds a cute small detail to the dress. An open back is also a great detail of the dress.

To simplify this look, I added a rhinestone hat and a pair of tall brown boots. You could also slip on a cardigan to make it more cozy and relaxed. The hat not only adds texture and of course sparkle but it keeps your head warm on a cold day. Just by changing the accessories in the look you can dramatically change your outfit.

So, I hope this has helped you realize you can rent a Rent the Runway dress and wear it more then once when you have it! Wear it to your main even then play with it a few days after.

Happy Renting!

Preppy Diaries: Classic Chic

Preppy Diaries: Classic Chic

Although a spur of the moment outfit I really liked my ensemble today. I paired my favorite white button down with this black dress. The ruffle on the bottom makes it super girly and feminine. Not to mention every time I wear this dress I feel like I'm in the Great Gatsby.
To brighten up the look I added a bold magenta bib necklace. {Of course a statement necklace is a must in any outfit.}

Where it's from:
Dress: H&M
Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Bangles: Kate Spade, Alex and Ani, and J Crew
Necklace: Dry Goods
Shoes: Sam Eldeman
Tights: American Eagle
Pearl Studs: Nordstrom

{The bangle stack and necklace of the day.}

{Pearl earrings are a staple item for any preppy girl. I like mine junky and oversized of course.}

{Patterned tights are a great way to add a small texture to your outfit. Not to mention to keep your legs nice and warm.}

OOTD: Green Machine

OOTD: Green Machine

Today was not the best day, my phone was stolen... However, I wore this super chic outfit so that makes up for it right? Not really but we will go with it.

This look I would call casual chic. Not only is this look is comfortable for a day of classes but it is also cute enough to grab some food with some friends later.

The look features a gorgeous borrowed necklace from my roommate. It is J Crew inspired and super beautiful!
I paired the look with a simple cream hat, a military inspired jacket, a plain grey v-neck, and a flouncy jersey skirt. On my feet I wore a pair of camel booties from Target.

My favorite bangle stack lately includes two Alex and Ani bangles along with a simple J Crew bangle.

OOTD: Pajama Chic

OOTD: Pajama Chic

This outfit is chic and classic but comfortable. My maroon button up shirt reminds me of a vintage pajama shirt. It has lighter pink piping detail and a peter style collar. I paired this shirt with a pair of super dark wash denim jeans. These jeans are one of my favorite pairs of jeans ever. They are not only stretchy but they have the super dark wash which I prefer.

My accessories a brown pair of flats, pearl studs, a stack of bangles, and a topknot.

Also, I sported my ASOS purse with gold detailing and a super cute horse on the front.

Preppy Diaries: Pink, navy, and whales?

Preppy Diaries: Pink, navy, and whales?

Yes, I am still on that preppy kick! This outfit kind of combines preppy with my normal style. I paired my new Vineyard Vines hat with a classic button down. The print on this button down reminds me of some type of vintage wallpaper of some sort.

I wore a navy circle skirt to give the look a little edge.
My accessories included pearl earrings, a monogram necklace, and arm candy.
On my feet I sported my classic white Keds.

Fall Trend Report

So ladies, its that time again.... Fall fashion! Fall is my favorite season so naturally fall fashion is my favorite. The layering comes out and darker tones are everywhere.

Here are some of the top fall trends named by different fashion magazines. This is how I would style all of these trends with my own personal twist on things.

The punk or grunge look:
Both of these looks incorporate the grunge or punk look but with a more feminine twist. If you pair a lace crop tee with a denim circle skirt and add more edgy accessories your look instantly gets taken up a notch. Another option is to wear a plaid flannel inspired shirt with a leather circle skirt. Of course both of these looks aren't complete without a pair of combat boots.

Not all punk looks have to be totally out there. You can always have a girly touch to your look.

Crazy Furs:
This look incorporates "crazy fur" in other words a super fun fur vest. I paired this vest with a simple outfit. A classic denim button down shirt and some maroon colored chinos. Overall the look is very classy and chic. Pair these simple pieces with a junky necklace and patterned flats and you have a city girl approved outfit on your hands.

Menswear Inspired:
Menswear is a huge trend this fall. However, no one wants to look like a man...... So add some girly touches to mens inspired pieces. Pair a pair of plaid shorts with a matching blazer. With some tall boots and gold accessories you have a classic look using menswear inspired pieces.

Also, this look is super preppy and chic which is always a good thing right?
