Looking for a way to re-wear that Christmas dress after the holidays pass? Well, fun little black dresses like this one are perfect for Christmas dinner to a casual look. I dressed this scallop cocktail dress down with an oversize fuzzy cardigan (which is amazing btw) and a plaid scarf. Just by adding a few simple pieces you can completely transform any dress to a casual day look.
As you can tell from this week's posts I LOVE plaid scarfs. I have about 6 of them that I am constantly rotating. Whether I am adding it to a look for an accessory or wearing it to stay warm outside plaid scarfs are my go-to winter accessory. I especially love this one because it has so many different colors in it. From red, yellow, blue, grey, to brown it has a little bit of everything which makes it super versatile.
I don't know about you guys but I worry about re-wearing dresses to events. Once you wear a dress to a sorority formal or wedding you feel like you can't be photographed in it again. But, if you dress down a dress you can incorporate it into your everyday wardrobe so you can re-wear it, just in a different way. That's why I love layering sweaters or cardigans over dresses and adding different accessories. This way it's the same dress but is completely re-vamed. If you really want to mix things up layer a shirt over the dress and BAM it instantly becomes a skirt. Not to mention your friends won't recognize it!
I paired this look with flats, but add a pair of ankle booties or even riding boots to dress down the look even more. With flats this look could work for the office, class, or a dinner out.
