Fall Wishlist

striped bow tie | black loafers | frilly sweater | striped dress

It's officially fall! Thank goodness. I'm honestly tired of the 90 degree weather and humid days! I'm ready for crisp fall air, Halloween candy, and fall scents. These are a few pieces I am lusting over for this fall season! Stripes, tailored pieces, and some menswear inspiration is giving me major fall vibes.

What is on your fall wishlist? Let me know in the comments!

OOTD: Fall Floral

*Still waiting patiently for fall weather.* But, even if it stays warm I am so in fall mode! I'm bringing on the fall florals with this fun mixed print peter pan collar dress. Mixing prints is one of my favorite things so this dress is perfect. It's from a local boutique in Iowa and I've been dying to wear it.

I paired this fun dress with a bold jewel statement necklace. Pairing statement necklaces with button downs is one of my favorite things to do. So, pairing it with this collared dress is a must! To complete the look I also wore stacked bracelets and some rhinestone sandals.

This look is channeling my inner Blair Waldorf. Floral prints, collars, and some bling is bringing me major Blair vibes. Also, don't these steps remind you of B and S chilling on the Met steps? Whenever I see these steps on campus I always think of Gossip Girl!

I love this look for a day of classes. Wearing dresses are super comfortable, at least for me, and make getting ready so easy in the morning. One piece of clothing and your good to go!

OOTD: Tied Neck Scarf

Little tied neck scarfs are a HUGE new trend this fall. Although I'm not edgy enough to pull off some of the looks I've seen, I've made the scarf trend my own with this fun classic look with a twist.

I paired this fun pleated striped skirt with a simple denim button down to add a pop of color and a contrasting print together. The dainty polka dots from the scarf mixed with a thicker stripe creates a Blair Waldorf worthy look. This is also a super easy way to try out mixing prints because the addition of a tiny scarf won't over power your main print. Try and separate your prints with the scarf on top and a printed bottom paired with a simple top to balance out the look.

This look called for a simple pair of black flats to compliment the school girl vibes from this pleated skirt. I also accessorized the look with my go-to pink cross body bag and some simple bracelets.

The flowers on my campus are actual goals! During the fall and spring campus is in full bloom with a ton of greenery and beautiful blooms. These are located right outside of a building where I have class practically every semester. Although I might be in Ames, Iowa State sure does have a beautiful campus.

OOTD: Black and White Polka Dots + Internship Approved Look

Last week I started my internship which I will have for the entire school year! I had an amazing first week and I am loving it so far. But, with an internship at a corporate office comes a more sophisticated style compared to just heading to class. Although I dress up for class normally, I want to be business casual at work with still touches of my personal style. So, this look is something a little like what I would wear to work!

At work I usually try and keep things classy and sophisticated but fun. The office I'm in isn't super formal (aka no need for the power suit thank goodness!), but I still want to look professional. I tend to stick with skirts and tops or a dress.
Note: This skirt is a little short to wear without tights to work, but once you add tights it becomes more appropriate!

Mastering the business casual but not too casual dress code can be challenging. My best advice, you'd rather be too fancy then to casual. That's why I usually stay away from jeans. I like wearing chino shorts or other similar pants if it's cold out. But, normally I like to throw on a dress and sweater or a top and skirt combination.

Ballet flats are usually a go-to for me when it comes to office footwear. You know they are acceptable because they are more formal, but they can be super comfortable as well!

Another tip for establishing your internship or workplace wear is to see what others are wearing around you! If you see people wearing pants and you have a similar pair they are probably okay to wear. As a college intern you shouldn't go buy a whole new wardrobe for a new position. But, just take your wardrobe up to a more professional level then you may wear to class. I can assure you your boss doesn't want to see your sorority t-shirt if you are in a more corporate setting.

I am so excited to intern this school year for an amazing company and to experience so many new things! Not to mention it's fun leaving campus twice a week to have a taste of the real world. I'm interested to see, what do you wear to work? Let me know in the comments!

Lawrence, KS Snapshots

The past two weekends I went to visit my boyfriend at the University of Kansas. I love visiting because Lawrence is an adorable town and has a lot of fun things to do. Although I love Ames, it's nice being in a larger city with more shopping, restaurants, and activities.

Lawrence is also home to Cane's which is the best chicken fast food place out there, at least I'm convinced. If you are near a Cane's it is a MUST! Everything is great and I can get behind a restaurant with basically only chicken strips and french fries on the menu.

As you may have see on Instagram or my last post we went to visit the nearby sunflower fields! It was so beautiful and it was crazy to see so many sunflowers all in one place.

What did you do this weekend? Let me know in the comments!

OOTD: Field of Sunflowers

A fun fact about Kansas: the sunflower is their state flower. When I learned there were sunflower fields not far from KU I had to make a trip. By make a trip I mean drag my boyfriend there to take photos. Either way it was amazing to see and you could see bright yellow petals everywhere.

For this look I wore a fun pink, teal, and grey Lilly romper. This romper was a recent purchase from the Lilly After Party Sale. It has a unique wrap silhouette and dainty white applique trim.

As summer comes to a close I am frantically wearing my Lilly pieces for the last time. I won't miss the sticky hot weather, but I will miss wearing a Lilly dress as my everyday uniform. But, let's be real, sweater weather is the best kind of weather! More fall outfits will be coming to the blog super soon.
